The old shotgun debate
#1
12 vs 20 vs 28 gauge. All have their benefits and liabilities; most people have a go to.

I have a break action 20 gauge (3" shells) slug gun that is my go to when rifles aren't an option. Groups tight past 100 yard and I've harvested close to 20 deer with it over the years. Seems to be flatter shooting than a 12 gauge slug gun and definitely not lacking when it comes to power. For all other hunting that requires a shotgun I turn to my trusty old Mossberg 500.

870 all the way with me. I use the Wingmaster magnum 12 gauge with #1's. I shoot the "ole" Winchester Magnum Xpress 2-3/4 when I can find them. They have over 1400 FPS. When I am in a bind, I'll shoot 3 inch (1200 FPS).
Rabbit hunting ...... 870 Wingmaster magnum in a .410

I am a 20 gauge guy- Joe had me believing in it after I got two on my general firearms opener with barnes expanders from Remington.

Yea I got an 870 in 20 this year for slug hunts. I like it pretty well.

I use my Benelli nova 12 gauge for geese and ducks now.

Will maybe use the 20g for upland birds in February or so...turn on which to use
